Introduction

Effective Date: the date you first install or otherwise use the HiPix Software.

HiPix Inc. (“HiPix”, “we”, “our”, or “us”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you use the HiPix PowerPoint Add-In (the “Add-In”), why we collect it, how we use and share it, where it may be processed, how long we retain it, and the rights available to you.

Information We Collect

We collect limited metadata related to Add-In use. Specifically:

  • Presentation titles and file names;
  • File size before and after compression;
  • Usage statistics such as number of presentations processed, average compression savings per user, error rates, and other performance metrics.

We do not collect the textual or visual content of your slides for normal operation of the Add-In except as explicitly described in the No Content Access section below.

 

Use, Sharing, and Lawful Basis

  • Purposes of processing
    • Monitor and improve Add-In performance and reliability;
    • Debug and resolve technical issues;
    • Generate aggregate usage and performance statistics to improve features and user experience.
  • Lawful basis
    • Performance of a contract with you and our legitimate interest in operating and improving the Add-In. Where applicable law requires consent for a specific feature, we will obtain it before processing.
  • Data sharing
    • We do not sell or rent personal data.
    • We may disclose metadata to trusted third-party service providers (for hosting, analytics, support, and security services) who process data on our behalf under written contracts requiring confidentiality and security.
    • Data may be shared internally within HiPix for operational purposes only.
  • International transfers
    • HiPix is U.S.-based and data may be stored and processed in the United States. Where required by law, we implement appropriate safeguards for international transfers such as Standard Contractual Clauses or other lawful mechanisms.

 

No Content Access and Evaluation Watermarking

  • Default behavior
    • The Add-In does not access, collect, or store the textual or visual content inside your presentation slides for its regular operation.
  • Evaluation (trial) version watermarking
    • The evaluation (trial) version includes an optional image-handling evaluation feature that applies a visible watermark to images in your presentation so you can preview image-related functionality. This feature is run only when you actively start the evaluation feature for a session. Running the evaluation feature constitutes your consent for the Add-In to process the images required to create the watermarked preview during that session.
    • What is processed during evaluation: the Add-In temporarily reads only the images that you choose to process in that session and writes watermarked versions back into the presentation. No other slide content is accessed for watermarking.
    • Purpose and limits: watermark processing is performed solely to create a visible, in-presentation preview and is not used for profiling, marketing, training, or any other purpose.
    • Temporary copies and retention during evaluation: any temporary copies or caches created to perform watermarking are retained only as long as necessary to complete the processing and are deleted immediately afterward. If any temporary or cached copies remain due to technical limitations, they will be removed within 24 hours.
    • Paid licensed version: the paid version of the Add-In does not apply watermarks and does not access or process images inside your slides for watermarking or other content-processing purposes, unless you explicitly enable a separate feature that requires such content access and provide consent at that time.
  • User controls
    • You may stop or disable the evaluation watermark feature at any time by closing the evaluation workflow or upgrading to a paid license. Prior to running the evaluation feature, we will display an in-app notice informing you that images will be processed to apply a visible watermark.
  • Security for evaluation processing
    • Image processing performed during evaluation is subject to the security measures described in this policy, including encryption in transit and appropriate access controls.

 

Retention, Security, Rights, Policy Changes, and Contact

  • Retention
    • We retain metadata only as long as necessary to fulfill the stated purposes, typically no longer than 24 months, unless a different period is required by law. Aggregate statistics that have been permanently anonymized may be retained indefinitely.
  • Security
    • We protect data using industry-standard technical and organizational measures including encryption in transit (TLS), encryption at rest where feasible, role-based access controls, least-privilege access, authentication and authorization controls, logging and monitoring, and regular security assessments.
  • Your rights
    • Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict processing of, or obtain a copy of personal data we hold about you, and to object to certain processing. To exercise applicable rights, contact privacy@hipix.photo. We will respond in accordance with applicable law.
  • Data breaches
    • In the event of a security incident involving personal data, we will follow applicable legal requirements for notification to affected users and authorities.
  • Policy changes
    • We may update this Privacy Policy. When we make material changes, we will post an updated policy with a new effective date and, where required by law, provide additional notice.
